  • 2 min read

The 2026 ASHRAE Annual Conference in Austin is just around the corner, and we're looking for volunteers to help support the Technical Program by serving as Session Monitors.

Why Volunteer?

Session Monitors play an important role in ensuring technical sessions run smoothly by assisting attendees, supporting session chairs, and helping with room operations throughout the conference.

As an added benefit:

  • First-time monitors receive complimentary conference registration.

  • Returning monitors receive a discounted registration rate.

  • Volunteers receive behind-the-scenes exposure to ASHRAE's technical program.

  • It's a great opportunity to network with industry professionals and fellow ASHRAE members.

Volunteer Commitment

To qualify for the registration benefit, monitors are asked to volunteer for a minimum of four hours during the conference. Multiple time slots are available, allowing volunteers to select shifts that fit their schedules.

What Does a Monitor Do?

Monitors help with a variety of tasks, including:

  • Checking attendee badges and session access.

  • Assisting attendees with session check-in and PDH credit procedures.

  • Supporting room logistics and reporting any audiovisual or facility issues.

  • Recording attendance and collecting session materials when required.

  • Helping ensure sessions start and run smoothly.

No prior experience is necessary. Training and support are provided, and day captains are available throughout the conference to assist with any questions or issues.

Session Types You May Support

Monitors may be assigned to a variety of technical program sessions, including:

  • Paper Sessions

  • Seminars

  • Forums

  • Workshops

  • Panels

  • Debates

Join the Team

Whether you're a first-time attendee or a longtime ASHRAE volunteer, serving as a monitor is an excellent way to engage with the conference and give back to the Society.

We encourage Region VIII members attending the Annual Conference to consider volunteering and helping make the 2026 ASHRAE Annual Conference in Austin a success.

Thank you in advance to everyone who volunteers. We look forward to seeing you in Austin!
