ASHRAE Leadership Academy is a crash course designed to simplify the learning curve of all things ASHRAE. If you or someone in your chapter is an “up and coming” chapter leader – perhaps those that are new to ASHRAE or may be interested in taking a chapter officer role, this 2 day course is for you.
Registration is required but there is no charge for this program. The dates for this Society Year are March 1 and 2, 2019. Society will cover the expenses for up to two nights at the host hotel as well as the meals during the event. Airfare and other expenses will be up to the attendee, the Chapter, and/or the Region. Chapters must nominate interested individuals for consideration by the DRC. The DRC will determine which Chapter Candidates will receive financial support for their participation. Please forward you nominations for consideration to Hugh McMillan, Regional Development Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org not later than November 30, 2018. Please remember there is limited space available so do not hesitate to contact us.
Over the course of two days, attendees will gain a better understanding of how ASHRAE Society functions and obtain useful and practical knowledge essential for honing leadership skills. The program will also include sharing tips and best practices that attendees can confidently take back to their Chapters for implementation. Attendees help shape the discussion, too! A significant part of the program will be based on hot topics and challenges that attendees have identified that they would like to see addressed.
Topics covered include:
Creating your elevator speech
Navigating th4e ASHRAE organizational structure
Understanding all the tools and resources available to help Chapters and their members succeed
Managing effective meetings so that Board meetings and Chapter meetings can run as smoothly as possible
Delegating to and motivating volunteers towards the ASHRAE mission
